The ever-increasing amount of waste and pollution resulting from our current economic activity is an existence threat to the health of humans and global ecosystems.
To deal with the global waste crisis, we need to rethink our current economy. Waste does not need to be the inevitable result of economic prosperity. Transitioning to a circular economy would allow us to do just that.
Prevention is the best medicine. In a circular economy, upstream innovation is about preventing or recirculating waste from the outset rather than managing it after it has already become waste.
